Journal Prompt # 1

1. Pretend that you are talking to a blind man and have to describe for him what "red" is. You should use narrative and descriptive writing techniques, and try to appeal to his other senses!

What "red" is, it's the representation of love, hate, affection, and other symbolic references. When people think of "red" they would automatically think what object appear to be "red." For example, when people think of a heart, they would think that it is colored red, because we are taught to think that hearts are red. People would also think of it in a form of violence, since blood is red and when there is violence involved, blood would be involved.

Journal Prompt #2

2. How does competition function in our society? To what extent is it healthy/unhealthy? Offer some real world examples taken from your life, community, culture, state, nation, or world?

Back in the 1870's, Charle Darwin's theory of competition "Survival of the fittest" has established to the world today ever since it was first introduced. Many people today compete against each other to survive. Competition from sports, to survival in the economy. An example would be in sports. the main objective in sports is to reach their desired goal the fastest before the other teams do. In order to achieve that goal, the players would have to play at their near maximun capacity to achieve, they would have to be faster, stronger, and more strategic then the opposing team(s). Becoming so will make the team superior.

Journal Prompt #3

3. How have you taken something that you learned in the classroom and integrated it into your nonacademic life?

The one thing that I've learned in class and used outside of school was to start performing early instead of waiting to the last minute to do so, or in a more simplified explanation, do not procrastinate. For a long period of time, I have been procrastinating on my homework, and I have been taking too much time on them, Starting from 8 PM to about 12 AM. When I realized that I have waited for too long and in the end when I finish, it is early in the morning, I hardly get enough rest. Fortunately, I've been changing my method to start early. Now that when I start early, I finish in a time when I get sufficient sleep, and relived from most of the stress. Not only I do this with school work, I also at home, with my artistic performances. I draw anthropomorphic animals as a hobby and I ask others from the internet or from friend if they wish to place a request for me to draw. Once I receive a request, I start as early as possible, and finish early to move on to the next objective I have planned.

Journal Prompt #4

4. If you could go back in time and be someone in history, who would you choose to be? Why?

The one people that  would become if I have the ability to travel back in time is to be Samuel Colt. Reason why I would become Samuel Colt is because Samuel Colt was one of the first inventor to introduce the firearm, more specifically, Colt introduced the revolver. I am against war, and basically the one object that would start a war is firearms. Guns are one of the most dangerous tools in the world, used in war, murder, etc. In many cases, reports of murders are related to the suspects using guns. Therefore, if guns would be removed from existence, the world would become more peaceful and amiable.

Journal Prompt #5

5. If you had the responsibility to decide where $1 millon should be spent to improve conditions somewhere in the world, what project(s) would you choose? Why?

One organization that I would give a fraction of the $1 million to is to the Red Cross Foundation, because a large quantity of those suffering across the world are in dire need of aid in order to be able to survive. People suffering from disasters, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, etc. have been damaged severely, mentally and physically. Another organization I would donate money to is to the Children International foundation. because there are numerous amount of children that cannot afford an education, nor the food, clothing, or necessities to have a bright future. Since the children are the assets on shaping the world, it is crucial that we support the children.

One material that I would introduce to a primitive culture would be the internet. I would share with them the internet, because the internet is full of useful information that can aid on numerous problems that the primitive culture could have. For example, when in a situation on catching an illness, the primitive culture can search on how to help prevent the illness or help fight it. Also, it can inform on the events that happen globally, in which can affect them either softly or harshly, like an alert on an incoming storm, such as a hurricane. Once the culture has been informed, they can prepare in advance to have minimal damage from the storm.

Journal Prompt #9

9. Given the authority to establish a holiday, what would you choose to commemorate? Why? What would the celebration look like?

A type of holiday that I would commemorate would be an Anti-war holiday. Reason why I'd choose a holiday to be anti-war is because I am an advocate for world peace and opposition of war. Many great activists of peace have greatly influenced me to look up to them for peace, people such as John Lennon. How the celebration would look like would be using the peace symbol, playing music about anti war and spreading peace, songs like "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Let It Be" by The Beatles, and "Sunshine (Go Away Today)" by Jonathan Edwards.

10. What is the best advice you've ever received? Explain.

The best piece of advice I ever received was "Be who you wanna be, don't let others take that chance away." I've consider this my best piece of advice I've received because society has been limiting on each other on what we want to become, and what we can't control about ourselves. I follow this advice for all of my life because there are numerous amount of people who won't accept the type of person I am.

Journal Prompt #12

12. Your life is a movie. Describe the first 15 minutes.

From the day I was born, I knew that I was gonna face through life's toughest problems, like everyone else. Years after the date of my birth, my expectations came true, as I faced through bullying, both physical and verbal, even through the internet, just because of who I am, what I follow, and what I believe. As of now, the only form of bullying I have to face through is from the internet, which I find the easiest to avoid/ignore, since I follow the saying, "Haters gonna hate." Not only that, but also the advice I've received from my family, my fellow classmates, and my closest friends. Everyday I worry about whether this world will be put to a stop from most forms of violence, in which I believe eventually it will come. Besides that, school is the major challenge I deal with. As time goes by faster and faster, I need to keep up with it's pace; however, lately, I feel like I've been slowing down. ...I thought that high school would the toughest years in my education besides going into college, but I feel like its only the beginning.

Hello, I am your future roommate at college. As for my background, I am a not so average young adult who knows how to play guitar, keyboard, drums, and loves to sing; if you have a hobby that involves playing music, then I would love to play along with you! My favorite genres of music are Punk, Rock, Metal, Indie Rock, and much more. I also love to draw, and I would be willing to teach you on how to draw if you do not know how to. More specifically, I love to draw anthropomorphic animal art. I've lived in a pretty quiet community in California for many years, and I have not left California in a long while. I've always been the silent type; therefore, I don't speak much; however, I can be very talkative at times.

Journal Prompt #14

14. Please describe your reactions/ideas to the following quote: "He does not possess wealth, it possesses him."

My ideas in analyzing this quote that it is stating about the act of being obsessed with power, because years ago, kings and emperors only cared about is being the wealthiest. Supposedly, having a large quantity of currency means that you can take control of the people that surrounds you. People would work for the money that you would own; the higher amount of money you have, the more people a king or emperor can take control of.

Journal Prompt #15

15. What is the most valuable contribution you could make to a college campus? Explain.

The most valuable contribution that I would make to a college campus would be a world peace organization. All over the world, there have been domestic violence, wars all over the world, against other countries, even against themselves, that need to be put to a stop. Having a world peace organization would promote non violence acts and could benefit the community.

Journal Prompt #16

16. Explain a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilema you have faced and its impact on you.

A significant experience that I have went through was the ability to learn from my mistakes. If it wasn't from learning from my mistakes, I wouldn't have "moved" anywhere. As I learn from my mistakes, I become stronger, mentally, academically, creatively, and socially. For example, when I started to learn on how to play guitar, it was difficult for me to move from one fret to another that seems to be far from each other. My mistake was that I wasn't moving my fingers fast enough, and that I wasn't stretching my fingers. I practiced more and more on that technique and I leanred on how to play faster on playing guitar.

Journal Prompt # 17

17. Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.

One important international issue that concerns me is war. I am a individual that is in favor of peace. We (by "we" I mean the world) are ruining many souls that do not deserve to die because we continue on with these wars that we face each other. We fight for something we can all share, unfortunately, people prefer to keep things to themselves. Mankind is destroying itself because society decides to not share the things we need to survive emotionally and physically. If we were to share these things, we could of saved millions of lives, lives that could of helped with curing a disease that is currently immune to vaccinations.

Journal Prompt #18

18. If you could choose two things to change about our high school campus, what would they be and why?

Some things that I would change in our high school campus would be a change in the school colors. Instead of Red, white, and black, I would chose the colors blue, green and orange, because these are my favorite colors. Also, I would replace the tables with ones made of marble, instead of stone, because it is smoother than stone.

Journal Prompt #19

19. Should school attendance be mandatory? In your answer, be sure to explore what the function of education is, and what our nation would look like if the masses were less educated.

School attendance should be mandatory in order to provide a proper education to the students. If the attendance policy was not mandatory, possibly many student would choose to become absent in school because of laziness, ditching, and other reasons unknown. The function of our education is to use what we learned in careers we chose to follow and pursue. For instance, if we pursue to become a chemist, we need to learn about chemistry, which is provided in school worldwide. If our masses in our nation to be less educated, then there would be lesser amount of job opportunities, and it would seem that college would not be worth the money to spend.

Journal Prompt #20

#20 If you had the ability to talk to one species of animal, which animal would you choose to communicate with? Why?

The animal I would choose to have the ability to communicate to would be birds, because since birds are one of the most common animals to be seen around the world, it would be very beneficial to communicate with them. It is beneficial, because we heard all sorts of birds chirping and crying all over the world; however, we cannot understand what they are saying. Also, different breeds of birds make different noises, so with out this ability to communicate, it would be extremely difficult to understand them. Fortunately, we have studied certain noises that birds make, such as mating calls; this is one of our first steps that mankind has made onto developing a communication with a whole different being, through understanding.
